Cybersecurity veteran and evangelist, Dr. Lopa Mudraa Basuu, has been appointed Global Head of Cybersecurity Risk Governance & Compliance at Nissan Motor Corp.
A specialist in enterprise security and risk governance portfolio management, Basuu comes with a plethora of experience in strategically aligning technology with business and regulatory requirements.
Reporting to Global CISO Dane Warren, Basuu will be responsible for establishing and heading the Global Cyber Governance Risk and Compliance function at Nissan. The function focuses on ensuring end-to-end cyber risk governance required to ensure sustainable governance.
A company noted for its commitment to quality and safety, Nissan Motor Corp. had established the Global Cyber Governance Risk and Compliance Office to serve as the lens of Nissan cybersecurity, adding thrust to Nissan's global digital transformation drive.
Under her leadership, the Global Cyber Risk Function will build the governance framework that would govern cyber risk for the enterprise, NU SOC, connected cars, manufacturing, shadow IT, and finance and sales, in addition to monitoring and managing the risks.
A seasoned security and risk leader
Prior to joining Nissan, Basuu headed security, risk and governance functions for industry majors such as OCWEN Financial, SLK Global and contributed her career to MetLife and Infosys Technologies in leading roles.
Basuu also holds experience in Cyber Defence Program Management, Privacy Program Management, Security Operations, Third Party Risk Management, shadow IT governance, architecting network security, security awareness and training, security & risk based audit lifecycle management including tech-audit and standardization and compliance program lifecycle management (SOX, SOC, ISO 27001, ISO 22301, ISO 20000, ISO 31000, PCI DSS, COSO, CobiT, VAL IT, RISK IT, ITIL, DAMA, EU GDPR, HIPAA, HITRUST, DPF/DSF, WCA).
Adding to her technical and domain skills, she is specialized in team building and talent management, strong networking, client, stakeholders & partner relationship management, contract management and vendor negotiation. Her forte is working with executive leadership teams. She is also adept in managing inclusive, diverse, and multicultural global teams.
