NPCI appoints Mathan Babu Kasilingam as the new CISO

The former HDFC cybersecurity head, Mathan Babu will now manage all information security for NPCI.

Mathan Babu Kasilingam has been appointed as the new Chief Information Security Officer at National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI). With over 16 years of experience in the field of information and cyber security, Mathan has handled various roles- from handling account management and technology sales to holding various profiles in developing and rolling security services.

For the last three years, Mathan played a crucial role in the Head of Cyber Security Solutions and Operations at HDFC. He was also instrumental in building a robust cybersecurity defense and response mechanism for the bank. Mathan has previously held various positions across multiple leading firms including McAfee, Apara Enterprise Solutions, Wipro Infotech and HCL Infosystems.

Prior to joining HDFC, he was Principal Security Solution Architect with BT Global Services, where he was responsible for the growth and development of BT India’s security business including security, information risk and compliance for multiple large multinational banks. At HDFC, he was the go-to person for all the IT know-how and information on security.

Mathan has also spent over six years with Symantec, prior to BT and held various roles in Symantec including being the Regional Manager – Solution Engineering for South India and Senior Principal Solution Architect, wherein he was the Principal Security Advisor to multiple large enterprises belonging to ITeS/banking verticals.

He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and has achieved his CISSP in the year 2006.
